Gym Tips For Beginners
Gym Tips For Beginners
Planning to hit the gym, but have no idea where to begin? Don't worry, we have created a step by step guide to help transform you.
- Get Familiar
Take a tour of your gym and get familiarised with all the equipment. Ask the gym staff, on how various equipment works and what precautions to take.
- Pay Attention to Hygiene
The amount of effort that goes into working out for long hours should be rewarded with hygiene. Hygiene is one of the first things you should maintain during your workout and even before hitting the gym. Carry personal towels and fresh ones, and positively have a shower after your workout is done. - Warm Up
A good warm-up session is utmost important before getting onto any machines as part of your training session. It will prevent gym injuries, prepare your body for rigorous training and take you a long way. - Come Prepared
The last thing you should be doing at the gym is using someone else's towels or personal belongings. Make it a habit to bring a towel and a bottle of water when you are in the gym. - Comfort Clothing Is Cool
We men are more about comfort than style. While it's wise to mix and match style and comfort, priority should always be on comfort. Too tight, remember you can be the laughing stock. Too loose? Well, 90s is time gone by already. - Company
And company is good. Research shows that going to the gym with a partner is a great idea because it helps you lose weight at a faster rate. So, whether it's your best bro or your girlfriend, make sure you have some one tagging along.
- Give a Chance to All
This is not going back to school, where you are the lucky one if you reach first. Don't hold on to the treadmill for hours just because you got to grab and you feel running on a treadmill is fun and healthy. Gym equipment has to be shared. So, time yourself accordingly and step down from the machine.
- Check Your Vitals
Before you join any gym, it is important that you get your vitals checked, such as body mass index (BMI). Checking your physiological vitals is extremely important before taking up any form of exercise. For a smooth exercise regime, it is recommended that you get your blood pressure, pulse rate and resting heart rate checked.
- Avoid Taking Calls
Technology is the boon as well as the bane of our existence. And phones are the biggest source of distraction. Idea is to switch off your phone during your workout session. If that's not possible in your case, at least put it on silent, so that the continuous Whatsapp pings don't play with your mind and force you to check your phone like a maniac every 5 minutes. Not to mention, it's bad gym etiquette too!
- Use Deodorant
Body odour is universal to all. Though using a deodorant is an optional hygiene requirement, in a gym it is a mandatory one. Imagine basking in the amalgamation of a variety of body odours and you would understand the need for a deodorant in a gym.
